Major investments are coming in the areas bordering Oslo. An urban development agreement for the Oslo area was signed today. The state's contribution to investments exceeds 16,5 billion.
The signed urban development agreement will make travel easier for many people in the Oslo area. The plans include good solutions for public transport, cycling and walking. The state will allocate over NOK 16,5 billion to the agreement, including over NOK 8 billion to Fornebu.
Ambitious plans
Thanks to our mutual commitments, we now have ambitious transport and environmental plans, said Transport Minister Knut Arild Hareide. An agreement was made between Viken, Oslo, Bærum, Lillestrøm and Nordre Follo and the state. Knut Arild Hareide representing the Ministry of Transport and Communications and the Minister of Local Government and Modernization Nikolai Astrup signed the contract. Due to the pandemics, digital signatures have been placed.
The urban development agreement replaces the current urban environment agreement and the urban development agreement. - This agreement will be a good basis for a more coordinated area and transport policy in the capital region and for the development of even better public transport services for residents.
Cele
The aim is to make it easier for residents to travel by bus and train, says Nikolai Astrup, Minister of Local Government and Modernization. In practice, you can certainly expect significant traffic difficulties in some places, but for it to be better, it has to be worse first.
