Everyone who comes to Norway from abroad, except those coming from green countries / areas in Europe, must be quarantined, but there are various exceptions. If you are traveling or intending to travel, it is important to stay up to date with applicable laws.

Entry quarantine upon arrival in Norway

Anyone coming to Norway from abroad, with the exception of EEA / Schengen / UK countries / areas with sufficiently low spread of infection. Must be subject to entry quarantine for up to 10 days, if not listed in the exemption provisions of the covid-19 regulation. People arriving from countries and green areas also need to be quarantined. If they have stayed in the last 10 days in orange / red / gray / purple countries and areas or in intermediate countries. If, on the other hand, you travel from a green country / area through an orange / red country / area without using public transport, without spending the night there and without being in close contact with others than those you live with, you are not quarantined upon arrival in Norway.

Fully vaccinated and those who have had COVID-19 in the past six months, have exceptions to entry quarantine. Protected persons who received the first dose of the vaccine between 3 and 15 weeks of age and children under the age of 18 must undergo entry quarantine, but may terminate it if they test negative no earlier than three days after arrival.

Currently, only the presentation of a vaccination certificate (Norwegian, Danish, Swedish or EU digital certificate) with a QR code that can be verified by the Norwegian authorities, which is considered a safe and verifiable way to document vaccination or medical history. Here you will find more information about the certificate:

It is important that travelers are familiar with the regulations that are in place before coming to Norway, including entry restrictions, registration requirements, testing, quarantine rules and documentation requirements for the use of exceptions. It is also important to be aware that the rules may change in a short time and that it is the traveler himself who is responsible for keeping the rules in force at the time of entry up to date. Here you will find more comprehensive information on what applies:

The updated travel advice will be in effect no earlier than the day after the government makes a new decision, but it may take several days for the travel advice to take effect. NIPH has been updating the information for Norway from the time the advice is valid.

The figures on the ECDC website, some countries' own reviews and the FHI website may therefore vary from time to time.
