If Christmas is to be as we remember it, everyone has to make an effort. This is all to contain the spread of the coronavirus, is the message of the FHI.
Exacerbation of COVID-19 disease, RS virus and flu season on the way. It is a huge challenge before Christmas.
The infection situation in the country corresponds to the most serious of the two scenarios of the winter season included in model report FHI at the end of October, confirms FHI director Camilla Stoltenberg.
"It can be completely reversed, but it takes effort," he says.
- Hope we can have a normal Christmas. Unfortunately, these are holidays in which we will continue to consider infections in the country, says Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
. Winter wave
In the worst case scenario, in the FHI models, Norway receives a "relatively large winter wave". If this coincides with the workload of hospitals admitting many flu patients, it could be a big problem, the FHI said during the presentation of the report.
The trend can be reversed, but people need to understand the seriousness of the situation, emphasizes the director of FHI.
The sick must stay home
Camilla Stoltenberg asks people to do three things: Keep vaccinating, stay home while sick, and get tested.
On Friday, the government unveiled new measures to curb infections. Municipalities may use Covid passports. The obligation to test is being tightened, and health authorities are also preparing a third dose of the vaccine for people under 65. The government also issued another one an urgent appeal for people who have not been vaccinated to do so.
