Two classes at Kvaleberg, one class at Nylund and one class at Hafrsfjord are quarantined. It is because of suspected infection with the omicron variant.

- Everyone who was present at the class must be quarantined. It's all to slow the spread of infection, says infection control chief Ruth Midtgarden. The other household members can live a normal life as long as they do not have any symptoms.

W Kvaleberg school 60 fifth graders and six teachers were quarantined today. Second-grade students in Nylund are under quarantine, and a class at Hafrsfjord School is temporarily under quarantine while infections are detected. This is most likely an omicron variant of the coronavirus.

Everyone attending the class must be quarantined

Quarantine rules are stricter for the omicron than for the delta, and also apply to fully vaccinated people. People who are in close contact with those infected with delta can go to school as soon as they have a negative quick test. For the omicron variant, classmates must be quarantined. Omicron quarantine lasts 10 days from contact with an infected person, but can be terminated if the child's PCR test is negative. However, not earlier than 7 days after the last contact with an infected person.

Students who are defined as being in close contact with a suspected or confirmed omicron variant should perform a PCR test as soon as possible. In addition, they should check themselves for symptoms immediately. They are not allowed to play with children from the same group during the quarantine period, even if they are in the same class at school.

The parents of the students have been instructed on how to behave, and the city's infection detection department is closely monitoring the situation.
