Police warn of slippery roads in the streets and water in basements after a large leak in Oslo on Saturday night. The leak was stopped, but the consequences remained.
- The patrol who was driving towards Majorstukrysset, a lot of water came out of the hatch cover and we observed the shaking. Operations Manager Vidar Pedersen of the Oslo Police Department told NTB.
Police on site with several patrols and cut off Kirkeveien streets which is part of Ring 2.
"The water is freezing and it's going to be like ice skating," said Pedersen.
The leak has stopped
Shortly after five, the police announced that the leak had stopped.
According to Oslo Water and Sewerage, the main water pipeline has been interrupted. Currently, there is no exact assessment of the damage yet. The water was flowing towards Frogner.
Water in the basement
The photos show a lot of water in the streets. Water has seeped into several cellars, including the school in Majorstuen, police chief Thomas Broberg reports NRK.
Crews from the Water and Sewerage Office located the damage. Now they've turned the water off and will be working on fixing the damage for a while, says Broberg.
The road has been blocked so far from Majorstukrysset to Frogner Stadium.
