The Norwegian police have again topped Universum's ranking of the most attractive employer in Norway among law students, and computer science students put the police in a solid sixth place.

Every year, Universum selects the most attractive Norwegian employers in the following categories: law, health, humanities, engineering and science, IT and business. In 2022, the police will also be at the top of the ranking as Norway's most attractive employer among law students.

"It's rewarding, we'll always try to attract the best talent," says Police Director Benedicte Bjørnland. At the same time, he underlines that this is not something the police should take for granted.

- We have to work for it every year. At the same time, it is very nice - and a declaration of trust - that law students place us at the forefront.

An important social mission is also attractive to IT professionals

For the second time, the police have made the list also in the IT category and lands in a solid sixth place, behind Google, Microsoft, DNB, Equinor and the Armed Forces.

- This shows that our important social mission is also attractive among IT specialists. We often go out and meet students and we always get the answer that people want a job that makes sense. This is definitely what the computer scientists in the police will get, says IT director Catherine Janson.

The award covers all IT communities in the police, the biggest player of which is the Police ICT services (PIT). The police have long deliberately worked to digitize agencies and ensure they have the necessary state-of-the-art expertise to develop new and further develop highly complex IT systems across the agency.

- Every time the police are commissioned, we are close to technology. We care about the security of Norway and our citizens, and for this we also need future-proof IT systems and good employees. Then it's nice that the students rate the police so highly. There are many professional and exciting challenges with us, says Janson.
