How many donuts are you planning to eat? Fat Thursday is a traditional holiday that is celebrated in many countries, including Poland, northern Europe and some overseas countries. This is the day just before Lent, when people eat a lot of fatty foods and sweets before they start fasting.
In Poland, Fat Thursday is known as the day when people eat donuts stuffed with jam, marmalade or other stuffing. Faworki, also known in some regions as brushwood or caddis, are also popular.
An important element of culture and tradition
In the old days, donuts stuffed with lard, bacon and meat were eaten, which were washed down with vodka. It is also a time when people gather with family and friends and take part in various events and fun.
Fat Thursday is also an important element of culture and tradition many countries. It is often treated as the last day free from spiritual and moral restrictions before Lent.
