Hooray for love!

As the Norwegian Church writes in its press release, on Valentine's Day 2023, over 34 couples said "YES".

"Fantastic day," say church workers and newlyweds across the country.

– On Sunday we said that anyone who wants to get married can come and get married. During a church coffee 20 minutes later, a couple came in and said they wanted to get married.

The parish priest told about it Anders Richard Johansen in Greverud and Oppegård. Today, two days later, the couple from the church cafe got married.

They are one of at least 34 couples who were married in the Norwegian church in Valentine's DayThis shows the initial calculation.

Śor church doesn't have to be big

Research conducted by the Church Council in 2021 shows that many people associate a church wedding with something that must be large, have many guests and have a larger budget. Parish priest Anders Richard Johansen in Greverud says that more and more people he wants simple ceremonies.

– The church wants to show that weddings can look in many different ways.

Church weddings can be performed quite simply

The church in Greverud is one of more than ten congregations to invite guests to a Valentine's Day wedding today.

– We brought a priest, a musician, a cake, pretend champagne – the only thing people had to take with them was someone from Kim they wanted to get married.

Today in the church in Greverud three couples celebrated their love. The church in Greverud could even offer groomsmen if the couple wanted it, the priest adds and smiles.
