National road 3 through Østerdalen is now open, but several other major connections in southern Norway are still closed.

, but Østerdalen is already open

We will open the roads as soon as it is safe and possible. Unfortunately, it is difficult to give good information when this will happen - he adds.

“Some closed roads have not even been properly checked. We need to specifically assess the risk for each section. In many places, we also have to deal with demanding and extensive cleaning and repair work,” he explains.

“Both the National Roads Authority and our contractors are ready to start road opening works as soon as it is safe and possible,” sums up Cato Løkken.

This is what the road situation looks like on Friday morning:

On Friday morning, these main roads are closed:

  • E6 between Dombås and Oppdal
  • E6 between Nord-Fron and Sør-Fron
  • Rv 7 between Hønefoss and Geilo (the road is open between Hønefoss and Gol for cars under 7,5 tonnes)
  • E16 in Bagno
  • Rv 15 Ottadalen
  • E134 between Mjøndalen and Hokksund

More than 100 roads in southern Norway are closed. Most are county roads.

Roadblocks are set up to ensure the safety of road users. It is important to follow them and not to drive past the closed road.

Detour restrictions

Please note that current detours may have restrictions. Many county roads are not able to withstand heavier vehicles. It is important to check any restrictions before driving.

Research before driving

The situation is changing fast. Search for updated information if you must drive in affected areas. Limit driving to what is absolutely necessary.
