Police used in SMS fraud attempts

Several police districts report that they have received inquiries from residents who allegedly received an SMS with the sender "Police". This is an attempt at fraud.

The text message sent states that the recipient is receiving a message from the police and should log in using the link. The link will ask you to log in using BankID. The message also states that it is urgent and that the recipient must do it immediately.

This is an attempted scam and the police would like to remind you that we will never send these types of messages telling you to log in with your BankID or asking for personal details.

  • Don't reply to the message
  • Don't click the link
  • Do not activate BankID and do not provide personal information
  • Delete message

The police remind you to be especially careful when clicking on links received in text messages or e-mails.

Remember, do not share your BankID, passwords or sensitive personal information no matter who asks.
