The Lier municipality is closing primary schools and SFOs on Wednesday. Schools in Stavanger are also switching to home schooling for students in grades 5-10.

Digital education will be provided in the municipality of Lier until and including December 21, he writes DT . Schools and community centers must remain open to pupils.

The infection in Lier doubled in one week and the infection statistics for children soared. There were 55 cases yesterday, so it's likely to double again this week, says city chief physician Ingrid Bjerring.

To date, more than 300 cases of infection have been reported in December.

The government announced on Monday evening that all kindergartens and schools basic levels will move to the minimum yellow level from Thursday. Bjerring told Lierposten on Monday that the squad is already under so much pressure that the yellow level will be difficult.

Limited opening hours

In Stavanger, too, the municipality has decided to switch from Wednesday to home schooling for students in grades 5 to 10, writes Aftenbladet .

- It is a difficult decision, but we will do everything in our power to protect children and young people. Nevertheless, there are so many infections in schools today that it affects everyone's ability. We also see that this can lead to us ultimately having no choice but to shut down again. This is Mayor Kari Nessa Nordtun speaking.

The opening hours of the Stavanger kindergartens will also be limited to 7,5 hours.

Home school until Christmas

On Tuesday, the National School Association sent a press release suggesting home schooling should be used by Christmas across the country.

- With a scenario of up to 300 infected per day, the yellow level is totally insufficient, says union leader Mette Johnsen Walker of the National Association of Schools.

The association also believes that kindergartens and extra-curricular activities should be closed over the Christmas period.
