The value limit is NOK 6 or NOK 000 if you have been outside Norway for less than 3 hours. This value limit is the sum of all items purchased, including amounts on alcohol and tobacco.
Tourists
If you are a tourist and do not live in Norway, there is no set limit on the value of what you can take with you temporarily to Norway as luggage. Examples of such luggage include clothing, computers, cell phones, jewelry, and more stuff for use during your stay and which you will bring from Norway. If you bring goods that are to stay in Norway, for example gifts or consumer goods, there is a value limit. Amounts per alcohol, tobacco and food apply to all people traveling to Norway.
Customs clearance of goods above the value limit
If you are transporting towar with a value above the value limit, you must pay 25% VAT on all goods except books. In addition, there are several products subject to customs duties. In simple terms, it refers to clothing and food.
You pay customs duty by entering through the red channel when you arrive at the border. You need to make sure you use border crossing with a manned customs office.
You can choose, which goods are to be included in the limit values.
Duty-free amount Norway Example:
If you have been outside Norway longer than 24 hours and you bought a piece of furniture for NOK 5000 and a window for NOK 3000, it is advantageous for the furniture to be part of the value limit by paying customs duty and tax for the window.
Please note that if the value of one item exceeds the limit, you must pay customs duties and tax for the entire value of the item. If you bought a sofa o value NOK 10, you have to pay customs duty and tax for the entire value.
Duty-free amount Norway
Products that make up a whole cannot be divided and imported in parts during several journey or by more than one person. This also applies to situations where the value of a component part is smaller than the limit value. If, for example, you purchased kitchen equipment worth NOK 50, you cannot separate part of the kitchen to complete the duty-free an amount of NOK 3000 or NOK 6000. However, you can use the duty free allowance on other goods within the value allowance.
