In May, Parliament adopted a law on the new certificate at work system. It sorted out all the formal obligations we had to go through in order to get fagbrev in Norway. Offices are obliged to accept applications for a training contract.

Good news for wanting fagbrev in Norway

New regulations on fagbrev in Norway are good news even for 500 thousand. employees. From now on, after a year, we will be able to submit an application together with the employer to start vocational training while maintaining full remuneration. Such documentation is accepted by the Voivodship Office competent for the employer's seat.

So far getting fagbrev in Norway remained the dream of many employees. Many people have given up trying to get it professional certificate. This was mainly due to their financial obligations, which effectively prevented them from taking up professional practice.

The new system, introduced under the so-called bill certificate of employment, provides for the possibility of maintaining the full amount of remuneration received during the internship. This only applies to the unskilled employees, regardless of the position held.

Who is the new regulation for?

According to the legislator, the target group are adult employees who have only completed primary school and who need to undergo an apprenticeship before taking the exam. A condition for joining fully paid professional practice and obtaining fagbrev w In Norway, the requirement is to have appropriate work experience in a given profession.

Purpose of the program

The program aims to provide Norway with more skilled workers. These are definitely missing. As statistics show, Norway will need 2035 in 71. skilled workers. The most urgent needs are reported in the area of ​​health care - only in 2017-2027, entities in this sector will need a 26% increase in the skilled workforce.

The new program is based on a project that has achieved very good results in the trial phase. According to the practice, 8 out of 10 people after participating in the trial program claim that its completion resulted in better skills in fulfilling professional duties. During the tests, other valuable information was also obtained.

After the trial project was completed, it became clear that management has a huge impact on motivating employees to develop professionally. Many applicants may have low self-esteem and it is up to other people to awaken their need for training and ultimately obtain fagbrev in Norway.

How long do I have to work to apply for this program?

You must have worked a minimum of one year in the profession, if fagbrev in Norwayyou are applying for relates to a certificate related to your profession. If you do not have a full-time job, you must provide evidence of an internship equivalent to one year's full-time job.

How do I find out how long I have been in a given profession?

You must document previous work and other equivalent practices. You will get help at the Voivodship Office, where they will assess your actual competences. Do I need to have an internship in other workplaces?

What if I want to participate in the project right away?

Talk to the employer and apply together with the Voivodship Office for the opportunity to participate in the program. You have to take the initiative yourself. The same requirements apply to you as for students and trainees for the subject and examinations (5 hours for a written exam).

Does one year count in Extended Nursing High School?

Yes, the first and second years of a profiled secondary school are counted as an apprenticeship if you are applying for a certificate in this profession.

Do I have to pass subjects in secondary school, e.g. Norwegian, Maths and English?

No, you are not required to complete high school general subjects. The program emphasizes training in basic skills related to the duties you will perform on a daily basis. Note that if you do not complete general subjects in secondary school, you cannot enter tertiary education but may continue your secondary / vocational education.

What about the payout?

You keep your full salary while participating in the program. After passing the exam, you are entitled to a payment in line with your competences for a job relevant to the certificate.
