THE LABOR PARTY AND THE NORWEGIAN TRADE UNION CONFEDERATION CALL FOR A BAN ON FALLING COMPANIES WHICH RECEIVE EMERGENCY AID.

Companies that receive state support related to COVID-19. The dismissal of workers and the payment of dividends and bonuses as requested by the Labor Party and the LO should be prohibited.

These demands are that community funds should be spent on things that the community cares about. Namely, to save enterprises and jobs – says Hadia Tajik, vice-chairman and spokeswoman for the Labor Party (AP) for financial policy, in an interview with NTB.

Jørn Eggum, leader of Fellesforbundet, the largest LO union in the private sector, wholeheartedly supports these measures. For the workers' organization, he says, it is especially important that there are no redundancies.

When companies receive this money, workers should not lose their jobsand be fired, says Eggum.

It is unacceptable that employers dismiss their employees. When at the same time as they receive generous bailout funding jobs. We know what happened recently to many of our compatriots lost their jobs. At the same time, companies were empowered and at the same time they left us to our own devices.

Let's hope that these demands will be included in the next rescue jobs will be reflected in reality. Especially where a lot of financial resources are allocated for this purpose.

On Tuesday, the government presented a new one package crisis worth almost CZK 18 billion. The Labor Party (AP) and the Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) want companies that will receive support from the new compensation system, had to meet the following requirements:

  • No layoffs employees during the period of using crisis support.
  • No dividends, stock buybacks or bonuses paid management staff.
  • Large companies must contract with worker representatives to ensure that jobs are preserved during the pandemic.
