THE ROYAL COUPLE VISITED THE SURVIVORS

On Sunday, the royal couple visited the survivors and emergency services at the evacuation hotels and at the accident site in Gjerdrum.

When darkness fell over Gjerdrum, rescue operation still in progress.

It got dark and the search for survivors is still ongoing. The entire danger zone is searched. "The crews are on the roofs looking."

The NVE (Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate) states that the landslide continues.

- The landslide continues. We have no control over how far the landslide goes before it stops. This is one of the largest sudden clay landslides in recent times, says Torhild Hofshagen, NVE's regional manager.

NVE estimates the landslide to be 300 x 700 m, but the point of exit is even larger.

"There is also a danger of more houses collapsing," says Hofshagen.

Police say that landslides are made of clay.

"It's a clay mass that is dangerous and unpredictable about how it will behave," says task leader Pettersen.
