Temporary road at the border in Svinesund and closed border crossings between Norway and Sweden
According to the Norwegian police, several public entities have jointly developed a solution that will ensure that everyone who crosses the border in Svinesund will actually pass the mandatory tests for Covod-19. Until now, due to the distance between the border crossing point and the test station, compulsory coronavirus tests could be avoided.
Temporary road
A temporary road will be created in Svinesund, leading directly from the border control to the test center run by the municipality of Halden. In this way, all passenger traffic will pass through the test center. This is all to ensure that no one driving the car leaves the road directly.
Good teamwork
- As it is now, in a few days we have a new traffic flow solution in Svinesund ready. This is possible thanks to the very good cooperation between the police, the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, the Customs Office, the Armed Forces and the commune of Halden, says fire chief Ole-Christian Torgalsbøen in the commune of Halden.

Until the end of the interim program, the police will assist in discharging traffic to the test site.
"It is important that such a system and tests are effective, which is why we felt it appropriate to make our contribution during the transition period," says Police Inspector Eli Fryjordet, head of the Joint Aliens and Administration Unit in the Eastern Police District.
Mandatory testing
The Covid-19 test at the border crossing is compulsory. Anyone who evades or refuses to test may be fined for breaching the Infection Control Act / covid. This qualifies for a fine of NOK 10.
Border crossing points are physically closed
