More people will get jobs and skills development opportunities

The coronavirus pandemic has caused historically high unemployment in Oslo. The city council is currently introducing a series of measures aimed at getting the unemployed back to work and qualifying more people for work. In Oslo's draft budget for 2022, the City Council invests an additional 84,5 million NOK in funds for work and qualifications.

We prioritize activities aimed at encouraging the unemployed to take up employment

– Everyone should have the opportunity to participate professional life. During the financial planning period, the city council will contribute to increasing employment, reducing unemployment and facilitating skills development. We give priority to activities aimed at encouraging the unemployed to taking up work and strengthening activities for those who have been unemployed for a long time - says the city councilor for work, integration and social welfare Rina Mariann Hansen.

NOK 4 million for activities that combine Norwegian language learning with work experience

It is proposed to allocate 28,5 million NOK for activities aimed at working in districts. NOK 10 million is also invested in adapted work, and NOK 4 million for activities that combine Norwegian language learning and work experience, ensuring that more people with an immigrant background will have a lasting connection with professional life.
