While Norwegians cross the Swedish border to buy cheap meat, tobacco and alcohol; The Swedes are going the other way to buy cheap Norwegian diesel.
Although Norwegians complain about high taxes on gasoline and diesel, the latter is four to five kronor cheaper in Norway than in Sweden, so Swedish drivers are going the opposite way, reports NRK.
Diesel fuel prices
After reopening the border with a neighboring country, the Norwegian side of the border also experiences increased traffic.
- In Sweden, they sometimes talk about a price of more than 20 kronor per liter. If you compare CZK 16-17 per liter in Norway, we notice increased traffic on the Swedish side. This is the gas station owner Jan Petter Bjørnevik in Meråker speaking for NRK.
Its station saw its diesel sales volume increase by 50 percent compared to the same period last year.
Kenneth Opsahl is the CEO of a gas station near Svinesund and confirms that they followed the same trend in the south of the country.
