The omicron variant infects both vaccinated and previously infected persons. Norway's health authority believes this makes passports unnecessary, but FHI disagrees.

Within two weeks Norwegian Directorate of Health changed her mind about the use of Covid passports in the country, writes Aftenposten.

On November 27, they accepted the implementation of passports, but on December 7, the management changes their mind and believes that such a passport does not make sense.

It was the universality of the omicron variant that prompted the management to change their minds.

According to management, which made recommendations to the government on Tuesday, it is not wise for people to be together without restrictions, even if they have been vaccinated or previously infected.

The FHI believes that if a omicron bypasses immunity, a requirement to supplement passports with a negative test result should be considered.
