Hope for 38 km
The European Union has provided as much as EUR 320 million for the construction of two expressways in Poland. The goal was to build the S5 route, which would be located in the Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship, and the S17 route in Mazovia. Works on the routes are to be officially completed in 2020, but GDDKiA informs that there is hope that 38 km of renovated road fragments will be put into use this year.
Reality other than plans
Rzeczpospolita also informs that the great unknown is the S8 route, which runs along the Przeszkoda-Paszków section near Warsaw. This route would be officially available for use in December this year, but the delay is already known.
Nothing happens without a reason
Roads are being built and certainly many sections of the routes we currently have to cover in Poland are in better condition than they were a few years ago. Currently, investors are struggling with many problems that cause construction delays. The main reason for such events is the change in material prices, which unfortunately are constantly increasing, and companies also complain about the lack of people willing to work. We read in "Rz" that it is estimated that currently on the construction market there is a shortage of over 100 employees.
2018 no worse than 2017
The last year also did not end very positively when it comes to road construction. The plan assumed that Poland would receive 400 km of renovated and built routes. The final result is 350 km, but as we can read in Rzeczpospolita, it is still more than in 2016, when we only got 124 km.
