Germany is counting on a joint solution to the conflict between the EU and Poland over the legal situation in the country, says German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock.
"Where the differences are so large, it is all the more important to have good discussions on these topics." Baerbock said after meeting her Polish counterpart Zbigniew Rau on Friday in Warsaw.
The dispute between the EU and Poland over the legal situation in the country has been going on for a long time. The issues at stake include the independence of the judiciary from the government and whether EU law should take precedence over national legislation.
