Sweden lifts controversial test requirement for visitors from Friday 21.01/XNUMX. Travelers from the EU / EEA and Nordic countries must be able to present a covid passport instead.
Up to and including January 20, all travelers to Sweden must be able to show a negative COVID-19 test result. Which is done within 48 hours prior to arrival, regardless of vaccination status.
This is changing now, reports the Swedish government. As of January 21, those wishing to travel to Sweden from the EU / EEA or the Nordic countries must be able to present the EU digital covid passport or its equivalent.

The requirement applies to foreigners over the age of 18, with some exceptions.
Those without a passport must be able to show a negative coronavirus test performed within 72 hours of arrival or prove that they have recovered from the disease in the last six months.
Sweden introduced a controversial test requirement for all newcomers in December, which led to the expulsion of several hundred people from the border. The government is now changing the rules as it no longer sees the testing requirement as a proportionate measure.
