From February 1, the EU will change the rules on what gives a valid covid certificate. Here you will see what you need to take care of before leaving and traveling in Europe.
The most important message is that everyone who goes on a trip must check the regulations in force in the country they intend to enter. This also applies to the principle of issuing covid certificates. The rules may differ depending on the country you are traveling to.
Check the laws of the country you intend to enter
The entry rules for each country can be found on the website or in the Reopen EU app. Keep in mind that the country information here is not always up to date, but the available links to country specific laws provide good information. We also recommend using Travel Ready App Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Find a covid certificate on the Helsenorge or in the Helsenorge app
The Covid certificate can be easily found at www.helsenorge.no/korona certificate . It's also easy to download the Helsenorge app and download the corona certificate there.
Has it been more than 270 days since the first injection?
Until January 31, vaccination with, for example, two doses of the vaccine is enough for the covid certificate to be accepted during the inspection, regardless of how much time has passed since the last vaccination.
The EU has decided that from February 1 you must register that you have taken a refreshment if more than 270 days have passed since the vaccination.
Therefore, if more than 270 days have elapsed since receiving the last dose of the primary immunization program, document the refresher dose in a covid certificate when traveling to certain countries. Unless you have recently had COVID-19, the following applies:
If you have had Covid-19 in the last 180 days you will not need to document your refresher dose
If you have had COVID-19 after primary immunization, your covid certification will be valid for 180 days (approximately six months) in most countries.
To find out if your corona certificate is valid
Your crown certificate is valid if it contains the following information:
- For those of you who took 3 doses of the vaccine, below the last dose on the crown certificate should say "3 out of 3".
- For those of you who have received the single dose vaccine, it should say "2 out of 1" after the refresher dose.
- For those of you who took 4 doses of the vaccine, two doses, an additional dose, and then a refreshing dose, this would be "4 out of 4".
- For those of you with a medical history, there may be several options for presenting vaccine doses. For example, if you took a dose of the vaccine in addition to passing Covid-19 and then received a refreshment dose, it will appear as "2 out of 1".
What about the kids?
The rules differ from country to country, whether there is a requirement for a children's covid certificate or not. There are ongoing processes concerning, for example, the possibility of children to obtain certification on the basis of a vaccine. Should children be subject to a general booster dose requirement if more than 270 days have elapsed since the last primary immunization dose.
