Since the summer of 2022, Forbrukertilsynet has received many complaints against the energy company Tinde Energi AS.

In December 2022, the Consumer Affairs Office notified Tinde Energi AS and the President and CEO that it may be appropriate to decide on fees for violating the Marketing Act. In addition, the supervisory authority notified the prohibition decision with the imposition of a mandatory fine.

An energy company cannot change a fixed-price contract or a price-limit contract that has already been concluded

The reason why the Norwegian Office Consumer Protection was considering making a decision was that the company sent notice of changes to the fixed price and capped price contracts it has with its private customers. Such agreements are valid for the duration of the contract. An energy company cannot change a fixed price or capped price contract that has already been concluded.
