The Ministry of Oil and Energy sent proposals for amendments to the Act on electricity subsidies, together with regulations, for consultation. The goal of the changes is to make the scheme more predictable and reliable.

On February 15, the government announced several changes to the electricity subsidy program for households to make it more predictable and credible.
It is proposed that the calculation of the electricity allowance should be based on the hour-by-hour spot price and that this change should apply from electricity consumption in September 2023 inclusive.

In addition, it is proposed to increase the benefit rate to 90%. in all months starting from June 2023 inclusive. The ministry proposes to extend the program to cover consumption until 2024.
