Guide to deductions from Skatteetaten

The deduction guide will help you get an overview of the most common expenses where you can apply apply for a deduction.

There are possible deductions that are easy to forget about. You must enter the first two of the following in your tax return independently.

Relief for costs incurred for commuting to work

If you live more than 37 kilometers from work, you will receive relief for travel between home and work. You will receive the deduction regardless of the type of transport you use. IN tax return you enter your home and work address. The office will also ask how long the trip takes and how many days you were at work. Year in full time (100%) is 230 days.

Additional transport to kindergarten or after-school care

You can get deduction for additional costs. You are entitled to a deduction if the nursery or SFO is not on the route between work and home and you need to take a detour.
You may be traveling public transport. Then, the deduction is only available if the trip to kindergarten or extracurricular activities requires purchasing an additional ticket.
You must also enter this deduction yourself tax return. You enter this under your parenting deduction.

What if you gave a cash gift worth at least NOK 500?

Have you donated at least 2023 in 500? NOK as a gift from the organization volunteering or similar? Then you can get a deduction for it. The organization is obliged to report this fact to the tax office.

If you know you have donated money you haven't you can find on your tax return, you must notify the organization. The organization then sends this information to the Internal Revenue Service for you could receive deduction.
