Health insurance in Norway

Every employee who is legally employed in this country is entitled to health insurance in Norway. You can use the healthcare system from the first day you start working. The health insurance contribution is automatically deducted from the gross salary of 7,8% including tax.

Health insurance in Norway for the whole family

As practice shows, it happens that when going to work in Norway, the whole family is left in Poland. It turns out that there are five options for the possibility of providing health insurance in Norway for the entire family of an employee who resides in Norway. The key is to identify your own needs. This will allow us to choose the most appropriate solution for ourselves.

Insurance for an unemployed spouse

If the employee's spouse or life partner is not employed in Poland. She should register as a person unemployed at the District Labor Office. Then health insurance contributions in Poland will be paid for it. Automatically, both she and children will be able to benefit from free care under the National Health Fund. But you have to be awarethat the Labor Office will try to help such an unemployed person find permanent employment. This means that there will be, among others: sent for interviews with employers. She will also be obliged to appear at the Labor Office every month and talk to a career advisor.

Voluntary health contribution

If the above solution turns out to be inappropriate for any reason. It is also possible to pay a voluntary health insurance contribution amounting to 9% of the average salary gross. In the first quarter of 2018, it was PLN 426,59 per month.

European health insurance card

European health insurance card. Briefly known as "EHIC", it is available to every person who permanently resides in one of the EEA countries. Frequent travel to the countries belonging to it is also an important criterion. This card allows you to use it for free health care in each of these countries. However, it is worth being aware that it is not possible to obtain an EHIC for the entire family. Therefore, each of its members must have their own document.

Helfo and forms E-109 and E-106

These are the last two variants, thanks to which you will additionally insure your family

Primarily due to the large obligations of such a person towards the District Labor Office. It is worth considering the possibility of voluntary contributions to health insurance. Thanks to this, from Polish care system the whole family will be able to benefit from health care. The EHIC is, in turn, an optimal solution for those people who: permanently reside in Norway. And they leave its borders for a short time. Forms A-109 and A-106 are a more reasonable solution if the employee travels to his home country for a long time.
