Replace as soon as possible

Norges Bank is obliged to replace the old banknote with a new one for another 10 years. However, it is worth doing it as soon as possible so that you can legally pay with them in Norway. At the same time, it is an opportunity to replace older banknotes with current means of payment. those with a nominal value of NOK 50 - Norges Bank will exchange them for the current NOK 100 until May 1, 2022. This also applies to old Norwegian coins that have already run out of exchange time. In this case, however, the bank will charge us a fee.

Two more changes this year

You won't pay with these banknotes anymore. How announces Norges Bank, there will be two more changes this year. New banknotes in denominations of NOK 50 and NOK 500 will be introduced into circulation. However, only in the fourth quarter of 2019. Therefore, you will be able to pay with both editions for a year.

Important Informacja for Polish people

Worth knowingthat the changes may cause some difficulties for Poles. They result from the fact that banknotes in denominations of 100 and 200 NOK will no longer be exchangeable in currency exchange offices - including those located in Poland. Therefore, before you go on a trip to your home country, we recommend that you do not take old means of payment with you. However, if you are already in Poland, remember that you cannot exchange old banknotes.
