Sykepenger it's nothing but sickness in Norway. It is due to every insured person who lost temporary capacity to work as a result of illness or injury. On condition, however, that in the last 4 weeks he has achieved an income of the same level 0,5 G, which is currently NOK 48.

Sickness in Norway, and vacation leave

It may happen that we get sick while on holiday. It's worth knowing that sickness in Norway also applies in this case. We are entitled to deduct the vacation days during which we were sick. To document such an event, we are required to provide the appropriate certificates from a doctor. Preferably immediately after returning to work.

How do I apply for sick leave in Norway?

To be able to use sykepengerfirst we need to document our illness. Then we source sick leave, complete part D and send it to your employer. It is worth emphasizing that this document is also an application for granting sick leave.

The employer signs part D of the sick leave, with which we must go to the nearest Department of Work and Benefits (norw. Arbeid og ytelse). However, this should only be done if our address is in Population Registry (Norwegian Folkeregisteret). Otherwise completed and signed Hi must be delivered to the Department responsible for the district in which the employer is based.

I am an entrepreneur - can I be sick?

Self-employed persons can also "take" sickness in Norway. However, he is not entitled to a period in which the employer pays the funds to the employee. Therefore, during the first 16 days of illness, the entrepreneur will not receive any compensation. NAV may pay him funds only from the 17th day of his stay sickness.

Form E-104

To the application for sickness benefit in Norway we can attach the E-104 form. This makes sense in a situation where we have been working in another EEA member state during the last 4 weeks. NAV will then calculate the height sickness benefit taking into account income that we did not receive in the Kingdom.

Who pays sykepenger?

Sickness benefit it is paid by the employer, but only during the first 16 days. From the 17th day layoffs NAV is responsible for the payment of the benefit. Its amount is calculated as the average salary you received in the last 4 weeks before your illness. However, in the event that you worked in a shift system or had a differentiated amount of income, NAV may take a longer conversion period.

Illness in Norway - stay abroad

Norwegian legislation gives us the option to download sickness benefit even when we are abroad Norway. NAV allows two possibilities:

  • the employee insured in Poland stays in the Kingdom of Poland - provided that he is checked in in Poland,
  • an insured employee in Norway resides in another EEA country - provided that it is his own permanent place of residence.

In the latter case, we must obtain a medical certificate from the specialist who treated us. It is intended for this E-116 form. Such a document should be provided, for example, to the Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) together with form E-115who is obliged to send it to NAV without delay.
