A company struggling with a lack of employees is, among others, a CNC company in Leksvik in the municipality of Indre Fosen. The company's director emphasizes: "We would like to employ even more people, but it is very difficult," says Arvid Penna Steen, the company's general director, in an interview to the Adresseavisen newspaper. Recently, we had an urgent need for two or three people who would control the final quality of finished products - before they are sent from the factory. For this we needed people without special education, but we quickly noticed that such employees were simply unavailable on the labor market. There are basically no unemployed people willing to work. How did we solve this problem? We have made changes to the employees we already have. We increased jobs from part-time to full-time and re-employed those who retired.”
Investing in education is a priority
Industry in Trøndelag is doing well, but there is a lack of young people to work. Specialists with at least high school education who will stand out with a fresh look at the industry. This is why the emphasis on education and its quality is so important. We must do everything to make young people want to learn.
