Highest unemployment rate in Norway since World War II

According to preliminary NAV data, 24 people were registered as fully unemployed on Tuesday 291 March. This is 000 percent of the workforce. The total number of unemployed and jobseekers targeted by the measures was 10,4, or 306 percent of the workforce.

- It is the highest unemployment rate in Norway since World War II. Last week we saw a doubling of the registered number. The main reason for this is the sharp increase in layoffs as a result of measures introduced to contain the spread of the coronavirus, says Sigrun Vågeng, director of Labor and Social Services.

- Changes in the market work in Norway the past two weeks have been unheard of in history, with 65 registered fully unemployed on Tuesday 000 March to 10 today, says Vågeng.

Highest unemployment rate in Norway

As of Tuesday, March 17, 142 people were registered as fully unemployed, an increase of 95 percent. Highest unemployment in Oslo

All counties have seen a sharp increase in unemployment over the past week. In Møre and Romsdal, the increase was highest (116%), while the lowest was in Westland (84%).
Unemployment is currently highest in Oslo, with 12,7 percent of the workforce. Nordland is currently the county with the lowest unemployment, employing 8,6 percent of the workforce.

Highest unemployment according to gender

In the last week, the number of unemployed rose the most among men, by 80 more, or 000 percent. For women, unemployment increased by 105, an increase of 62 percent. The unemployment rate is now 000 percent for women and 85 percent for men.
All age groups have experienced a significant increase in unemployment over the past week. The relative increase was greatest among those 50 years of age or older. Relative to the workforce, unemployment is highest among people aged 20-24 (16,6%), and especially among women in this age group (18,3%).
