Slightly more than half of the students participating in the survey say that their studies prepare them well for professional life.
In recent years, increased relevance to working life has become a particularly important quality target in higher education. IN in an article published in Statistics Norway the authors ask how well students feel that their studies prepare them for professional life. The results show that just over half of Norwegian students feel well prepared, while less than a quarter feel only somewhat prepared.
Compared to other Scandinavian countries, Finland, Iceland, Sweden and Denmark, this is the lowest percentage. For comparison, 65 percent of Swedish students respond that, in their opinion, studies prepare them perfectly for entering the domestic labor market.
Students who feel best prepared study in pedagogy. Those who feel the least prepared study in the humanities, language and arts as well as social, journalism and information fields. Women feel less prepared than men.
Internship in college is a key factor. Students who have completed an internship feel that their studies prepare them for working life to a greater extent than students who did not have an internship.
