Who is entitled to the European Health Insurance Card S1?
If you are a member social security in Norway and you are a citizen of this country or another EEA country, you are entitled to a European Health Insurance Card.
Pensioners who have moved to another EEA country may also be entitled to European Health Insurance Cards. In many cases, the right to a health insurance card also applies to family members who do not themselves have citizenship of an EU/EEA country. Family in this context means:
- spouse
- children under 18 years of ageover whom you exercise parental authority
- dependents children aged over 18 years old
- cohabitants who have or have had children together
What does the card entitle to?
Insurance card health insurance gives you the right to cover the costs of necessary medical treatments. IN hospital and/or a public specialist health services of the country where you are staying. You are entitled to insurance under the same conditions as residents of that country and if there is a co-payment, you must pay it yourself.
