A year ago, it became possible to digitally deregister and re-register a vehicle.

More than 470 people took the opportunity to do so on vegvesen.no instead of going to a roadside inspection station.

“This is much more than we expected and confirms that this has been a long-awaited service for our customers,” says Heidi Øwre, section manager at the Norwegian Public Roads Administration.

The customer does not have to go to the inspection station for pickup and delivery license plate. He can also de-register and re-register whenever he sees fit. 352 deregistered their vehicle on vegvesen.no.

Most passenger cars, motorcycles and motorhomes were deregistered and re-registered.

Fewer people visit road stations

The traffic station has become mobile, which makes it easier for customers to provide services. Last year by as much as 278 fewer people went to the vehicle inspection stationto deliver and collect license plates, compared to the previous year.

Norwegian Public Roads Authority is constantly working to improve digital services.

Remember to register again

– We noticed this at the beginning of this year increase in the number of deregistered vehicles on the road, which is why we have taken a number of actions to provide customers with good information, both in cooperation with the insurance industry and through an information campaign. Currently, we are observing a positive development in the form of a smaller number of deregistered vehicles in traffic, Øwre continues.

119 registered their vehicles on vegvesen.no.

– We do not expect everyone to register again. Many people who had not previously deregistered their vehicle have now done so because they do not have to go to a traffic control station to surrender their plates, says Øwre.

If you intend to use your vehicle, remember to register it in advance. If you drive a deregistered vehicle, you do not have valid insurance. If you get into an accident, you are financially responsible.

Even if you have a contract with an insurer, the insurance does not apply until you renew vehicle registration. After purchasing insurance, remember to register your vehicle at vegvesen.no. The vehicle must also be EU approved and must not have any other defects.
