Many of us are used to our smartphones and digital devices automatically adjusting to the change, but what about traditional clocks? And why could changing clocks soon be a thing of the past?

The European Commission has made an important decision on this matter - but we will have to wait a few more years for its final implementation.

Last Time Change: When Will It Happen?

Time changes have been controversial for years, and a survey conducted by the European Commission shows that as many as 84% ​​of respondents are in favor of abolishing them. A similar trend is also observed in Poland - according to CBOS research commissioned by the Ministry of Entrepreneurship and Technology in 2019, 78,3% of respondents were in favor of abandoning the current system.

European Considerations

Due to the growing reluctance to change the time, in 2019 the European Parliament issued a regulation regarding their possible abolition. It was planned that this process would take two years, but the coronavirus pandemic thwarted these plans. Therefore, according to Deputy Minister Olga Semeniuk, work related to the new regulation is related to Commission Communication European Union for the years 2022-2026. According to this document, all EU countries have until 2026 to decide whether they want to permanently abandon the time change.

When will we change our clocks by 2026?

Below are the exact dates until 2026:

From winter to summer time:

  • 2023 – March 26;
  • 2024 – March 31;
  • 2025 – March 30;
  • 2026 – March 29.

From summer to winter time:

  • 2023 – October 29;
  • 2024 – October 27;
  • 2025 – October 26;
  • 2026 – October 25.

The decision to change time has many consequences. Although this may seem like a minor procedure, many people find it a burdensome practice. Will this tradition become history in the coming years? Time will tell.
