From April you will receive monthly invoices for municipal fees. Trondheim Municipality has noticed that more and more people are struggling to pay their bills every quarter.
The invoice will be issued monthly
The invoice for the first quarter will, as usual, be sent as a combined invoice with a payment deadline of April 15. Invoice for April will be sent at the end of the month, with payment due on May 15. Then both residents and businesses will receive monthly invoices, which must be paid by the 15th of each month. Authorities Trondheim commune adopted this new payment scheme last fall.

Increase in inquiries
– We do this against the background of the general economic development of society. IN In recent years we have seen a gradual increase in the number inquiries from residents who want to postpone or split their invoices, says project manager Eva Haugan from the accounting department at the municipality of Trondheim.
The commune interprets this as a signal that an increasing number of residents need the opportunity to spread their expenses evenly throughout the year to a greater extent than before.
– In addition, we regularly receive direct requests for monthly invoicing of municipal taxes, both by phone and e-mail, from commune residents. We understand that this is a very desirable and sought-after solution, emphasizes Haugan.
Quarterly cleaning fee
The only exception in the new system is charge for cleaning. The feiegebyret will continue to be invoiced quarterly. This is because it is a low fee and many bill recipients are only charged for this service.
– It is also worth noting that the invoice amounts in January and February will be lower. This is because the accrual real estate tax and settlement water and sewage disposal fees will not be ready until March. Invoices in January and February will therefore only include fees for garbage collection and fixed amounts related to water and sewage disposal.
The invoice for March will be the highest of the year, because this month the property tax, water and sewage fees and the settlement of water bills are invoiced. three months.

Electronic payment recommended
Those who do not use digital payment options will continue to receive monthly paper invoices.
– We encourage everyone who has the opportunity to choose eFaktura or AvtaleGiro as a payment option, as combining these options requires minimal administration on the part of invoice recipients, says Haugan.
The municipality of Trondheim recommends also for companies that do not yet use Elektronisk Handelsformat (EHF) to consider adopting this solution in the future.
Monthly invoicing was initially introduced on a permanent basis, but, as in the case of other improvement and development projects, this will also be assessed after some time.
– The most important thing for the commune is that we provide good services that are consistent with the wishes and needs of citizens, says Haugan
