Little Zakopane is still popular
Although Zakopane has less than 30 inhabitants, it has been one of the most popular destinations for Polish vacationers for many decades. The town offers over 35 beds; Apart from apartments, rooms for rent and holiday homes, there are a total of 50 dynamically operating hotels and boarding houses, the functioning of which enables the employment of many people.
Tourism first and foremost
In this way, the tourism industry determines the labor market. In the summer season, this seems to be extremely problematic for Zakopane employers. Agata Wojtowicz, president of the Tatra Chamber of Commerce, notes that employees are sought in many employment sectors in almost every catering outlet and in the hotel services industry. Vacancies are filled largely by foreigners (especially from Ukraine), but still there is a shortage of workers.
They even employ migrants from Asia
Even migrants from Asia are trying to meet the demand, but given the boom in tourism, the labor market still seems insatiable. This may cause legal problems. From those carried out in the last one Half a year of Border Guard inspections resultsthat five Ukrainian citizens worked illegally in the vicinity of Zakopane and Nowy Targ and did not register with the employment office. However, it is enough to complete the documentation to meet the employment conditions in Poland. Labor offices are trying to facilitate complex procedures, because without foreigners willing to work, the number of unfilled jobs will increase at an alarming rate.
