There have been no such increases since 2016

Food prices started to increase slightly just after Easter - but from March to June the increase remained at 1%. The drastic increases were influenced, among others, by: negotiated target rates with agricultural communities, which entered into force on July 1 this year. The ongoing drought is also important as a result of which farmers suffered losses initially estimated at NOK 5,5 billion. Unless an agreement is reached on the aid package for the agricultural sector, even higher increases should be expected in the coming months.

Electricity prices are also going up

According to the information from the portal TwójNorwegia.no, electricity prices in Norway also soared. From January to June, the increase was almost 60%, while compared to the previous month, the price of electricity increased by an additional 6,2%. The increases were predictable

According to the assurances of Ingvill Størksen from Vike Grocery, the increases in food prices were predictable. They have been at a low level for a long time. In her opinion, two dates are key when it comes to food prices - February 1 and July 1. The increases usually occur in the summer.
