When drinking coffee or tea, we do not wonder which of these drinks is healthier for our body. Some of us are coffee lovers and drink a few coffees a day, while others love tea and cannot imagine not drinking even two a day. When drinking a few cups, we do not think about the consequences, but rather we are guided by the taste or the effect that the drink will give us.

Coffee - pros and cons

Many people drink coffee for one reason - it stimulates our body to work for some time. People who drink about 3 cups of coffee a day, as confirmed by research conducted at Harvard, are less at risk of premature death than people who drink less or do not drink it at all. Drinking coffee regularly also protects us against type 2 diabetes, Parkinson's disease, and some cancers.

However, it should be remembered that everything has its pros and cons, and coffee of the latter, unfortunately, has many. If we are people who have problems with the digestive system, unfortunately, coffee, being an acidic liquid, will increase them. It also has a negative effect on our bones because if we drink more than 4 cups a day, our bone density is reduced by about 2 to 4%. Finally, there is caffeine, which is found in large amounts in coffee. One cup provides us with 95 to 200 mg. Such an injection of energy is felt very quickly, but after about 3 hours we become lethargic and tired again.

Tea - pros and cons

Tea has many health benefits and is recommended by many doctors. If there is any inflammation, then tea is the best solution because it contains antioxidants that help us fight the disease. Drinking it regularly supports our thinking and remembering processes. Older people who drink at least three cups of tea a day are less likely to develop dementia. Unlike coffee, if we consume a large amount of it, our bone density does not decrease and the rate of weight loss becomes slower.

Tea, like coffee, has many disadvantages. The first is staining the enamel, which is a cosmetic minus rather than a health minus. Another, very dangerous is leaching of iron because tea contains tannin, which blocks the absorption of the above-mentioned element. Of course, it should be added that coffee also leaches iron, but it does it at a level twice as low.

What's the best choice?

In any case, moderation is the best choice. Nowadays it is difficult to look for something that does not adversely affect our body. However, if everything we eat is properly dosed, our body should not blame us for drinking coffee or tea.
