There is currently a shortage of 38 skilled workers in Norway, making it an excellent opportunity for those looking for work abroad. According to the Norwegian Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, the main reasons for the shortage are an aging population, a highly specialized labor market and a shortage of international talent. To fill this gap, qualified foreign workers are actively sought for various positions. Find out more about the possibilities work and visa requirements in Norway today!

Growth of incompetence

The latest recorded increase in the lack of competences, as indicated by NHO, shows that the construction industry has once again found itself among the industries with the greatest unsatisfied need for competences.

As many as 7 out of 10 companies say they need a competent workforce that they are unable to provide.

Over the past year, more than half of BNL members have tried unsuccessfully to recruit professional staff. The NHO skill scale shows that especially there is a shortage of employees with commercial skills (75%), vocational techniques (64%) and engineering and technical skills (60%).

– The industry lacks significant expertise to contribute to building a modern and sustainable Norway, says Director of Competence Kjetil Tvedt at the National Association of the Construction Industry (BNL).

– We need to offer more than just mountains and fjords to attract professionals

Obviously, not everyone wants to go to Norway, says Abelia's manager Paul Chaffey.

– We think everyone will come to Norway and they will workthat we have mountains and fjords and so on. But we're bad at telling outsiders why it's good to work in Norway. The world is becoming increasingly fragmented into global labor markets, says Paul Chaffey about the talent hunt now and in the future.

We need to make Norway more attractive and highlight what we have good.

“We are doing well in many areas in Norway, but we need to show it to employees around the world. For example, we are successful with equality and a flat management structure, a work-life balance, and we are one of the few countries that has free education. Many who come here do not return to their countries because they are developing well here. Chaffey said at BI's Alargi Talent Day.

Do you want to take advantage of unique opportunities in Norway? With 38 skilled workers in demand, it's time to get qualified and take the leap! Investing in professional development can open up opportunities around the world. Take the chance to make your world a better place.
