More than 40 fires on Saturday

Forest fires are a huge problem this year. On Saturday alone, about 40 exploded in the counties of Telemark and Agder. Fire brigades, supported by 7 helicopters, were sent to try to tame them. After the situation worsened on Sunday, the civil defense service was additionally sent to the site. The greatest threat was recorded in Aust-Agder, Ostfold and Akershus. The flames consumed forests also in Telemark, Vest-Agder and Oppland.

How to behave in the event of a fire?

Each of us can find ourselves in the danger posed by fires. If we witness one of them, we must take appropriate measures to extinguish it. In this case, please follow the steps below:

  1. Alert all persons in the fire zone of the imminent danger.
  2. Call the fire brigade. Introduce yourself, give the name of the burning object and, if possible, the address at which the fire occurred. It is also worth specifying what exactly is burning and on which floor of the building, and whether there is a risk to human health or life. We are not allowed to hang up until our report is confirmed. The dispatcher may request confirmation of the notification by calling back or providing additional information.
  3. Next, you should try to extinguish the fire with the use of local extinguishing agents and try to help the people at risk, and if necessary - start evacuating people and property. All activities must be performed in such a way that people in danger do not panic due to fire and rising smoke (fumes).

If the fire reaches a person and he starts to burn, put him on the ground as soon as possible, cover him with a blanket or clothes to cut off the oxygen supply, and then call an ambulance.
