The new road tolls have been in force since October 1st. There are many indications that their amount has reached a socially acceptable limit, that Lasse Fridstrøm talked about. The protests of the inhabitants of Norway, which were attended by many people in Jæren, are particularly significant. The protesters are also announcing a manifestation of their dissatisfaction in Oslo.

New tolls - over 62% say "no"

A recent survey by Infact for Nettavisen shows that exactly 62,3% of those polled are against toll increases. On the opposite side, there are supporters of such a solution. New road tolls should be even higher, according to 4,4% of respondents.

"Criticism is nothing extraordinary"

According to the Norwegian Minister of Transport - Jon Georg Dale (Frp) - such research results are not surprising. “We have been preparing for a long time to decide on new tolls. We realize that this is a controversial form of financing public roads, "says Jon Geord Dale in an interview with Nettavisen -" We have made a lot of effort to reduce costs. In the latest budget, we have anticipated the revenues of over PLN 0,5 billion for bompengers obtained outside the city areas. We are not surprised by the level of residents' dissatisfaction. "

There will be fewer tolling companies

The new tolls are not the only changes planned by the Ministry. Jon George Dale also says the number of companies charging fees will be reduced. Currently, there are 60 of them, and the target is to be 5. This is part of the plan to reduce the costs of bompenger operation, which will allow for more effective management of toll funds.

Investments in road transport

Arild Hermstad from the MDG party admits that her group focuses on improving air quality in Norwegian cities. For this reason, the funds obtained as a result of the bompenger should be allocated to the improvement of public transport, as well as the construction of bicycle paths and sidewalks. In her opinion, measures aimed at improving air quality should be of key importance. High pollution adversely affects the health of the inhabitants, and high traffic volume creates many dangers for children.

Over 16% of MDG voters "paid"

According to Arild Hermstad, the relatively higher percentage of people supporting the new bompenger among MDG voters results from the assumptions of her party. The fact that this group voted against allocating new funds is also significant road tolls for road constructionwhose capacity significantly exceeds demand. As an example, Arild Hermstad points to the blocking of the construction of the free E39 road, which would cost drivers over USD 110 billion in tolls.
