Recent statements from politicians associated with Frp (Progress Party) indicate that the end of the tax reductions for electric cars is coming. The first signals came from the Climate Summit, which took place in Katowice (we wrote about it here). It was then declared that elbili drivers would pay the same boomer. Carl I. Hagen defends this position in an interview with the NTB.

"There is no reasonable reason"

As the politician Frp stated, in his opinion no more discounts for electric cars will contribute to the swift abolition of all road tolls. “I don't see any good reason why we shouldn't treat all cars equally. And it is not just about boomerbut also all other tax reliefs and "fees" – Hagen said to NTB.

Billion profits

The politician also believes that everyone using the same services should pay for them the same. "Because boomerlike all other taxes, they should be exactly the same for everyone, ”said Hagen on Thursday conference in the capital city hall.

Not only in Oslo

Hagen argued that no more discounts for electric cars took place not only in Oslo, but also throughout the country. He argued his claims calculations, intended to point to billions in profits flowing to the state budget after all tax and fee reductions for elbili drivers have been abolished.

End of discounts for electric cars - big profits?

The politician of the MMF showed in his calculations that if they would be abolished discounts for elbili, the state budget revenues will increase by NOK 11 million. This will allow for remove all road gates in no time. As stated - the current income from the title boomer to equivalent of NOK 10 million. Which is less than it amounts to subsidizing electric cars.

Green party against the idea

However, Hagen's calculations did not convince some politicians, including those associated in The Green Party. In their opinion no more discounts for electric cars means a greater risk of people buying vehicles powered by conventional engines. In practice it ties in with increased emission of pollutants into the atmosphere, and thus deterioration of air quality.

Oslo City Council is also against it

She also did not spare criticism Lan Marie Berg from Oslo City Council. “I don't understand why the politicians from Frp want to punish people who want to be environmentally friendly. End of discounts for electric cars is clearly associated with an increase in the emission of pollutants into the atmosphere. Thus, I do not know how Progress Party intends to achieve the goals set for 2025, set during the last Climate Summit, ”said the Warsaw councilor.
