As a reminder, new tolls in Oslo entered into force on June 1. This is a big change for all drivers who move around the city center. Some of us are probably wondering what the money obtained from tolls will be used for. Do you think for road upgrades? To some extent, yes - unfortunately, this is only a small percentage of the budget plans for this year and the coming years. So let's take a closer look at this situation.

Bompenger-Road Tolls in Oslo - funds for road repairs very small

It is worth noting that in the next four years, revenues from toll collection stations will amount to CZK 15,1 billion. A detailed distribution plan has already been prepared. According to the latest information, the state intends to allocate only 2% of the new funds to roads. The rest will go to investments such as: improvement public transport and construction of bicycle and walking paths. Bigger A new investment is also gaining momentum: Fornebubanen - the reconstruction of the metro.

Metro line connecting Majorstuen and Fornebu - the largest investment plan

According to the Office's Climate Department Oslo Municipalities, in the next four years that's it fornebubanen(metro line connecting Majorstuen and Fornebu) will be financed largely through toll gate fees. For example: In 2020, CZK 116 million will be allocated for the construction of a new metro line to Fornebu. Then this amount will certainly increase as the construction phase progresses. To sum up the budget plans - over the years - 2020-2023, approximately CZK 4,1 billion will be transferred to the new metro line from road tolls paid by drivers.

Oslo tolls - projects that facilitate daily communication in the city center

Just over one billion crowns is intended for various projects related to improving the functioning of the metro (new signaling system). The state also wants to allocate a large amount of money for next year's development of the tram network. Good news for two-wheeled enthusiasts. By 2025, 100 km of new bicycle paths will be created. The E16 road from Sandvika to Wøyen will receive an amount of approximately 2020 in 470 million crowns. The E18 road in Filipstad will also be financed by tolls goalkeepers.
