The development of technology is a fact. Every day we are surprised by new, extraordinary solutions. The emergence of self-service stores has long been talked about. The first one has just arrived in Norway. Extra store - on Bogstadveien street in Oslo. Until 23:00, it will function as a classic store - at night, customers will be able to enter using a mobile phone and a special Coop Key application - logging in via their bank account. How will this option work? Will customers benefit from this?

Self-service shop in Norway - fear has big eyes

The idea raised a lot of doubts at first. This is not surprising - new solutions - especially such innovative ones - often arouse anxiety. Boss chain stores Extra Christian Hoel, in an interview with Nettavisen, admitted that he was not sure whether this idea would work:

“When after the first time I heard about the project of unmanned stores, I was very skeptical and thought it couldn't be done. But as you can see, anything is possible in Extra. Now our customers have the keys to the store.” (…) “At the beginning, my doubts were raised especially by the technical side of the project. I wasn't sure if what we wanted to do was technically possible. Now I am confident and calm. We have the technology and if everything works in practice, we can consider introducing these solutions in other stores as well.”

Self-service store in Norway - who will benefit from it?

Times are changing, and our way of working is also changing. Many of us cannot afford shopping during the day - a self-service store will open up new opportunities for such people. Shopping after work? Or maybe a quick snack during the day working hours nightlife? Yes, now it will be possible.

What are your opponents afraid of?

A self-service store in Norway is just starting to operate. What are opponents afraid of? Problems with the application? After all, it is only a device, and according to many, such a solution will not replace a "live person" at the cash register. Group layoffs in store chains? However, at the moment there is no reasons for panic and anxiety. First of all, this is a “pilot” project. We will have the opportunity to check how this solution will work in practice. The store will change its form to self-service only for a few days hours within 24 hours. It will certainly make it easier shopping hours nightlife.
