In 2022, approximately 150 will appear on the roads. new ones electric cars. We cannot meet this growth on charging stations with one, two or four 50 kW chargers. It must be theirs much more. This is what Thor Egil Braadland, contact with the NAF authorities, says.

The government platform – the Hurdal platform – states that the government “will prepare a national strategy charging, in which the Norwegian Public Roads Authority will have a role in planning a coherent network of charging infrastructure.

– This is a positive and much more aggressive approach behind chargers than previous governments have shown. In the past, Braadland says, charging development was almost market-driven, and charging companies simply couldn't keep up with the tremendous pace. electric car sales.

A large shortage of fast chargers

NAF earlier this year calculated there was a shortage of about 500 fast chargers along the way Norwegian roads. They are largely missing along the main arteries E18 and E6 which run between many largest cities in Norway.

- The development of recharging nodes, i.e. stations with 20-30 or more chargers along major major arteries between major cities, must be part of the new plan.

Chargers need to be more powerful so that cars with large batteries can charge quickly, continues Braadland.

Movement and access to charging at home

NAF says a new plan for the government is yet to be finalized. The government says it will provide “the necessary numbers electric car charging stations throughout the country", which is the right approach to this issue. Then you can discuss what the correct number is, based on the development of the traffic base, range, home charging and so on.

On the other hand, the government must also “at least provide fast charging stations in municipalities that do not have it today.”

- There is a need for fast chargers not only within the commune. This is the basis of the movement and the possibility for people to use charging at home, says Thor Egil Braadland.
