Work is underway to improve bus safety

Simultaneously with the introduction of new requirements, work is underway to improve the safety of buses.

– I am glad that we are now introducing requirements that will better protect our bus drivers. This is an important first step towards improving security. Work must continue. Statens vegvesen is therefore tasked with both evaluating further national requirements and implementing new initiatives with an impact on international regulatory work, says Nygård.

The government wants the requirement for a reinforced structure in front of the bus to apply to all buses in licensed transport. As this was not made clear enough in the regulatory change consultation, it is now being sent for a new short-form consultation before the changes are formally defined.
