This is the last year before the revolutionary change. And although research shows that 70 percent of Norwegians do not want such a change, it seems irreversible.

The last year before the change in 2025.

Some time ago, Norway announced a ban on the sale of new combustion and hybrid cars from 2025. This means the country's transition to a market exclusively for zero-emission vehicles. The question is, how will the market cope with this change?

Currently, more than 80% of new car sales in Norway are electric vehicles. The increasing popularity of electric cars is a significant breakthrough in preparing society for upcoming regulations.

In 2023, a total of almost 127 new passenger cars were registered, of which almost 105 were zero-emission cars.

It will most likely be on Norwegian roads by the end of this year more electric cars than combustion engines.

Possible scenario

One of the possible scenarios after the ban is to import used cars from abroad, but the question remains what the consequences will be Norwegian car market and how far this trend will reach. Some manufacturers have already partially abandoned the production of combustion vehicles in favor of exclusively electric ones. There are also those who only produce "electrics". This means that the possibility of buying a new car with an internal combustion engine is now very limited.

Will this electric revolution prove revolutionary?

The era of electric cars is entering the Norwegian market at an increasing pace, preparing drivers for the end of the era of combustion vehicles. Will this transformation prove revolutionary or will there be additional challenges for the car market? This is a question that time will surely answer.
