Today we have information about some not-so-praise statistics. Some time ago, sugar in carbonated drinks, its content and concentration was tested. Norway was unfortunately at the top of this list. Norwegian carbonated drinks are “packed” with sugar and unhealthy ingredients. A new report shows that Norwegian Sprite has five times more sugar than Austrian Sprite. We appeal for caution when making purchases - our health and that of our loved ones is the most important. What else do we know from the report's results? What conclusions can be drawn from it?

Jøran Hjelmesæth, the head of the Morbid Obesity Center at Vestfol Hospital, professor at the University of Oslo, chairs the National Board of Nutrition Jøran Hjelmesæth, has provided detailed information on this subject to Nettavisen. What he said?

“One liter of Norwegian Sprite means 400-500 unnecessary kilocalories a day. Over the course of a year, this increase in caloric intake can result in an increase in body weight of approximately 10 kilograms. Basically all Norwegian sweetened ones carbonated drinks they contain 10-11 grams of sugar per 100 ml of drink. We call such drinks heavy drinks because the amount of sugar they contain is terrifyingly high.

Jøran Hjelmesæth also thinks that Norway should follow the example of, among others, Great Britain, which was able to significantly reduce the sugar level in carbonated drinks and continues to do so successfully.

Norwegian specialists calm down that Norway has been lowering the sugar level in drinks for several years - including the popular Coca Cola.

Since 2013, we have reduced the amount of sugar in our products by 25 percent. 80 percent of our new products in in recent years three years are sugar-free or reduced-sugar products, says Per Hynne, communications manager, in an interview with Nettavisen.
