The intestine is an organ that is responsible for our body's communication with the outside world. In fact, they play a greater role in this topic than our skin.

Death begins in the gut

Nobel laureate Russian biologist Lliya Mechnikov argued that death begins with the gut. The proper functioning of the intestines has a huge impact on the proper functioning of our body. The digestive system is an incredibly complex organism which, if it fails, automatically affects our entire body. The stomach has a function that is responsible for digesting food, the small intestine breaks this food into smaller parts so that these are sifted by our body, and the best nutrients are taken from them. The large intestine, in turn, converts the rest of the unnecessary food into feces, which is then excreted.

Healthy intestinal strands

Intestinal strands create a natural barrier to all harmful substances. Proper digestion of our body depends on the number of healthy intestinal strands. They are located on the entire inner surface of the small intestine. They are responsible for the very important process of absorption and digestion of nutrients such as fats, proteins and carbohydrates. Each of us has about 10 million of them, and their area can reach up to 200 square meters.

The functions of the intestine

Often you can hear that the intestines are called the second brain because they nourish cells directly, and by sorting nutrients they rule our entire body. The intestines' functions are mainly related to digestion and assimilation of nutrients. Inside the intestines, the phenomenon of homeostasis is responsible for the balance of the bacterial microflora, but also inside the intestines enzymes are produced that facilitate the final breakdown of carbohydrates, proteins and fats.

Symptoms that may be evidence of a sick intestine

A sick intestine is a really serious problem because it plays a serious role in our body. Very often the symptoms of sick intestines are inconspicuous and we may not even realize that something is happening to them. Symptoms can tell you about the problem by: diarrhea and constipation, heaviness, heavy thinking and slow reactions, poor immunity, bad breath, gas, and digestive problems.

The causes of intestinal diseases

Very often we do not realize that we ourselves lead to the deterioration of the condition of our intestines. This may be due to the excessive amount of medications taken, a large dose of cola drinks that contain a large amount of sugar, sweetener and preservatives, but also alcohol abuse. However, there are causes that are beyond our control: gluten intolerance, thyroid disease, deficiency or excess of fiber, inflammation in our body and genetic burden.

The effects are irreversible

The overuse of harmful substances that lead to the deterioration of the condition of our intestines may appear very late. The organism may let us know about them a few or a dozen years later. However, it should be remembered that damaged strands cannot be restored. The effects of bowel neglect are irreversible. Of course, introducing an appropriate restrictive diet or the recovery process is possible, but it is a long and arduous path that can lead to a reduction in the quality of life.
